Towering over the lush green hills of northwestern Costa Rica, Arenal Volcano is a majestic sight. This conical stratovolcano, reaching over 5,400 feet, is the country’s most famous. Arenal was incredibly active for nearly 42 years, spewing ash and lava flows. However, in 2010, it entered a resting phase. Despite its calmness, Arenal Volcano remains an impressive landmark, surrounded by Arenal Volcano National Park and the beautiful Lake Arenal, creating a scenic wonderland for visitors to explore.
